WORKSHOPS
Mandalas for Healing and Transformation
The mandala is a sacred geometric space that metaphysically or symbolically represents the cosmos, or a microcosm of the universe, and may be employed to access the wisdom of the unconscious to aid personal growth. In this workshop we will use a combination of guided visualisations, journeys and meditations to discover symbols and images related to each individual’s transition through various phases or levels of identity. These levels of identity, or boundaries, include the persona or mask, repressed elements or the shadow, the mind/ego, the body or total organism where the person is one with their environment and finally unity consciousness where there is no boundary and the individual feels one with the universe. At each boundary we will draw a mandala to explore and symbolically represent our transformation beyond that level of identity.

The Hero’s Journey
The workshop begins with an introduction and setting intent. Participants then map out a particular journey of theirs in which significant events are noted before a challenge, at the height of their challenge and during their re-emergence. Participants can be at any stage of the journey with the re-emergence visualised in the future. Symbols, metaphors and images associated with the events, or arising spontaneously, are then mapped onto the journey. Next, the journey map is transformed into a myth with the participant as the central character (hero). Finally, participants employ props to perform their journey as psychodrama and embody the transformation.
